The Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) will be hosting Outside the Box: Addressing the Sustainable Development Goals through a One Health Approach, a pre-conference session that will explore how an integrated One Health perspective can address opportunities within the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The One Health concept expands interdisciplinary collaboration across all aspects of global health for humans, animals, and the environment. The United Nation’s SDGs call for action by all countries to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. They recognize that ending poverty requires integrated solutions to health and gender disparities, education, and wealth creation, while addressing environmental sustainability. These SDGs call for a clear focus on outcome metrics—“we measure what we value”. This session is designed for public health professionals, veterinarians, as well as leaders in NGOs, governmental agencies, and multi-national organizations. Participants come from across industries, and around the globe; and all share a desire to address health issues at the regional, national, or global level. Join us as we tackle the world’s most pressing issues, affecting both humans and animals, through the lens of One Health.
