This thought-provoking, one-hour debate will explore different views on the role and contribution of the private sector to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC). Our speakers will propose and oppose the motion, covering: the role of governments, conflicts of interest, political will, what role the private sector should play in health systems for UHC and the responsibilities and contributions of different stakeholder groups. The debate will also highlight best practice across regions and countries to address concerns, challenges and perspectives of different groups.
We will hear from:
Dr Samwel Ogillo, Association of Private Health Facilities in Tanzania
Mohga Kamal Yanni, Oxfam
Philippe Fauchet, GSK
Abhay Shukla, Peoples Health Movement India
Simon Wright, from Save the Children, will moderate the discussion and Haruhiko Hirate, from Takeda, will offer closing remarks.
The 2017 UHC Forum side event is open to all, not ticketed, and the audience will be encouraged to declare themselves in favour or against the motion.
